Taking care of your hands – professional advice

Our hands do not have an easy life on a daily basis. Work, housework, leisure… they are always in action! And they are most of the time exposed to external aggressions: cold, pollution, detergents… How can we take better care of them? Don’t panic, the nail expert Maryton will give you several professional advice.

Please note: hands have thin skin!

Almost as thin as that which covers our face, the skin of the hands is very thin. In addition, it contains very few sebaceous glands, as well as subcutaneous adipose tissue. Therefore, our hands dry out quickly, and that they quickly show signs of aging.

What to do then?

You have to take care of it! Do you want to maintain beautiful, young and healthy hands? So you need to preserve the skin’s natural defenses as much as possible, and fight against the skin aging process. How ? Ensuring you provide them with consistent protection and regular care.

Professional care tips:

Water alone already cleans hands effectively: it removes dust, sweet and salty substances, sweat and water-soluble dirt. But it also causes the skin to lose lipids and substances that help retain hydration.

  • Use care that is as gentle as possible, of quality.
  • Wash your hands with lukewarm water, not too hot, before limiting drying.
  • Prefer soaps with a physiological pH: products with a pH similar to that of the skin will damage the hydrolipidic film that protects the skin less.
  • Avoid bacteriostatic detergent products: they don’t wash any better than conventional soaps, and can also lead to resistant strains of bacteria!

Diet is also – or even more – important than external care: the nutrients you ingest help preserve the elasticity of the skin, vitamins B and C contribute to the production of collagen, while vitamins A and E play a role in cellular regeneration, and therefore in the repair of damaged areas.
